Satyam's investors have had to pay a heavy price for trusting their money with the company. For them, the events of the last few days are worse than a nightmare.
With the stock plummeting because of the scandal, some people have lost a large chunk of their savings.
Shrenik Shah is one such investor who hasn't smiled since the Satyam fraud revelation.
Well! How could he, when he has lost a fortune - nearly Rs five lakh in only three days - to the Satyam fiasco?
Shah had invested his money not only in Satyam Computer but also in Maytas Infra, both of which Ramalinga Raju, who is now behind bars, promoted. Maytas has seen its stock shed 80 per cent of its value.
"The government has finally initiated legal steps against Satyam which is a good sign. It at least brings in some ray of hope for investors like us. But there's no action against Maytas Infra or its promoters and we are in complete dark. We don't know what's going to happen in this case. No news, no information, nothing," an exasperated Shah said.
Another investor, Uday Patel shares Shrenik's concerns. He has lost Rs 10 lakh in three days on the Satyam stock. The government, he says needs to act quickly to calm nerves.
"While the losses are huge in Satyam, the government has stepped in and is at least trying to do a bit of damage-control. However, steps have not yet been initiated in case of Maytas Infra. What will happen to the millions of its stock-holders, nobody knows we urge government and Sebi to step in and at least give us clear directions in this case as well," said Patel.
The aggrieved investors in Gujarat now seek justice and return of their investments.
Even as the Raju family prepares to move a writ petition before the Gujarat High Court on Monday, the investors now plan to drag them before courts.
After all, it was their hard-earned money and trust that has been taken for a ride by the Rajus and promoters of Maytas Infra.
