Terrific year
Indian sports had a lot to cheer about in 2008 as Abhinav Bindra won the country's first-ever indiviudal Olympics Games gold medal. Vijender Kumar and Sushil Kumar's bronze medal efforts at Beijing also gave the country a lot of joy, as did Saina Nehwal, Jeev Milkha Singh and Viswanathan Anand's performances in the year. There was also a lot to celebrate on the cricketing front as Sachin Tendulkar broke Brian Lara's record of the highest run-scorer in Test cricket history.
